*I received this book for free from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

This book surprised me. It was not what I was expecting. I really enjoy books that are dark and creepy and this book certainly fit that very well. It was such an interesting version of the classic good vs. evil. Along with the interactive additions, the writing was absolutely beautiful and haunting.

Catherine was an interesting character. She was very sad. She endures a childhood from hell. She loses her beloved grandmother at a very young age and is stuck with a woman who doesn’t even deserve to be called her mother. The only good thing in her life is Nathan, the boy she’s been in love with for forever.

In this story, Catherine becomes the obsession of a Master of Darkness until another Master tries to help her. She then becomes a pawn in their back and forth game. Even Nathan, finds himself a piece of the game.

This book was creepy. I would not recommend you read this book at night. You may start to see things moving in the darkness. This book is so well done and I hope we get more of this story in the future.
