I received an ARC of Darkness and, honestly, it far exceeded my expectations. The QR codes provide an interactivity I've never seen in a book before and I quite was impressed. Although I found it a bit slow to start off, there's a ten year jump into the future at which my full attention was immediately regained. Darkness was not a short read, it was definitely a good one and worth the time.

I won't delve too deep into the characters or story so as not to spoil anything for those interested in reading this book. However, I would like to note that I found myself relating to Catherine, the sixteen-year-old protagonist. Eveland created a character who, although I do not believe we share very much in common, I still find myself creating a connection with. That is something which I have not experienced with books very often.

I would certainly recommend this book to anyone interested in the horror genre or an all-out good read.
